OPERA IS COMING!  OPERA IS COMING! – Melba Z on the MKE

Donizetti on your behind no more!  The next two weeks are filled with opera events!

Milwaukee’s own Florentine Opera Company is putting on a special show this week, Tuesday, August 18th, 5:30-7 p.m., Opera on the Square.  Enjoy a free outdoor performance at Brewhouse Square in Schlitz Park.  Bring your own chair or blanket.  There will be food  and beverages available for purchase.

Fall Florentine shows include Live at the Center, September 18-19, a sampler of works that will be performed during the 2015-2016 season; and Puccini’s incomparable Madama Butterfly, October 16 & 18.  Think Pinkerton will get it right this time?  Aida my doubts!

Opera on Tap, a national group with a Milwaukee chapter, will present Lieber Abend at Villa Terrace Museum (on the east side near the Water Tower) on Tuesday, August 25, 7-9 p.m.  Have fun hearing some talented young singers, while enjoying a Sprecher beverage of your choice.  Suggested donation is $10, which includes the brew.

So, don’t mezzo round.  Hop on your Vespa, grab a gondola, ride the funicular, and go!
